Outreach Coordinator


Ada Developers Academy is a non-profit, tuition-free coding school for women and gender-diverse adults. We focus on serving low-income people, underrepresented minorities, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our program consists of two highly immersive parts: six months of focused instruction and five months of internship at partner companies, where students refine their skills working on real-world code.

About this position

Ada Developers Academy seeks an Outreach Coordinator to support the implementation of outreach, engagement, and student recruitment efforts to bolster brand awareness and prospective applicant enrollment into our core educational programs. We seek a detail-oriented communicator with strong organizational and public speaking skills, relationship-building, event planning, and community engagement experience. Based in the Washington D.C. area, this position is 75% remote and 25% in-person to attend outreach and engagement events, as required. Working core hours are Eastern Standard Time (EST), full-time 40 hours per week, and $28.85 per hour ($60,000 annually) with excellent benefits. 


Relationship Building and Recruitment (45%)

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with prospective applicants and community partner organizations for upcoming application cycles. 

  • Meet with prospective students and speak with community groups and organizations

  • Implement outreach strategies for building connections to other organizations that serve our target student demographic 

  • Strengthen brand awareness by distributing marketing collateral, presenting at informational sessions, and collaborating with the marketing team on social media content creation

  • Build relationships with Black, Latine, Indigenous American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander prospective students and organizations that serve these communities to increase the applicant pool

  • Promote outreach programs (ie. Ada Build Live) to prospective students to support the conversion of prospects to applicants during admission cycles

Event Coordination and Logistics (40%) 

  • Ensure all Outreach events run seamlessly and prospective applicants engage with Ada in a positive and proactive way

  • Work across functions to coordinate and execute outreach events including informational sessions, Ada Build workshops, and other programs that promote brand awareness

  • Manage communications for participants, volunteers, vendors, etc. as needed per event

  • Track and manage data and feedback regarding events and program offerings to determine the effectiveness of engaging prospective applicants

  • Represent Ada Developers Academy at community and student events as needed

  • Coordinate virtual and onsite event logistics in partnership with the Outreach & Engagement Manager, which includes rsvp/registration, email communications, event briefings, vendors, catering, and day of run of show.

Administrative Duties (15%)

  • Respond to inquiries about the Ada program via email and slack

  • Track community partnership communications and manage data through CRM Salesforce

  • Complete weekly data auditing and consistent communication with prospective students to ensure a timely and positive experience for all prospective students

  • Research community organizations that align with Ada’s mission to help foster partnerships for potential applicant pipelines

  • Schedule and coordinate meetings with prospective community partners and Ada staff (Outreach & Engagement Manager and/or Sr. Director of Marketing & Outreach)


  • 1 - 3 years of experience in community/external relations, non-profit management, campaigns and/or recruitment in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent public speaking skills and presenting information to diverse groups

  • Strong written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail

  • Ability to create and maintain positive relationships across multiple departments and teams

  • Demonstrated experience managing and organizing data and information; Experience using Salesforce is a plus.

  • Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service to stakeholders

  • Strong time-management skills; ability to prioritize projects and work through interruptions

  • Demonstrated embodiment of Ada’s values in a professional environment
