Outreach & Engagement Manager

Ada Developers Academy is a non-profit, tuition-free coding school for women and gender-diverse adults. We focus on serving low-income people, underrepresented minorities, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our program consists of two highly immersive parts: six months of focused instruction and five months of internship at partner companies, where students refine their skills working on real-world code.

About this position

Ada Developers Academy seeks an Outreach & Engagement Manager to lead the outreach team and implement educational programs to bolster brand awareness, nurture relationships with community partners and build a prospective student pipeline for our core program. Based in Seattle, this position is 75% remote, and 25% in-person to attend outreach and engagement events, as required. Working core hours are Pacific Standard Time (PST), full-time (40 hours per week), with a salary range of $75,000 - $80,000 annually (DOE) with excellent benefits. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management & Implementation (50%)

  • Lead execution of all on-site and virtual outreach programming (i.e., Ada Build Live) focused on community engagement to build a prospective student applicant pool for Ada Developers Academy core educational programs.

  • Provide strategic leadership for various site-specific outreach programming (i.e., career fairs, informational sessions, tech Industry networking events, and tabling events)

  • Coordinate schedule and logistics for community outreach programs, including managing details when groups are on-site or virtual

  • Partner with Sr. Director of Marketing and Outreach to collaborate with corporate and community partners to successfully plan and execute new and existing outreach events and campaigns (i.e., third-party promotions, community outreach events, and activities)

  • Partner with the marketing, communications, and design team to promote outreach events and programs to bolster brand awareness, community engagement, and prospective student conversion

  • Strategize outreach program goals, structure, and process as it aligns with industry data and community demand

  • Determine annual metrics of engagement and target numbers, and evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback and prospective student conversion 

  • Collaborate with the CRM Salesforce Data Administrator to create website registration forms, reminder emails, feedback surveys, and track attendance numbers

Mentor, Lead, and Supervise Direct Reports (35%)

  • Plan and build staff capacity to offer concurrent programs in each region across the nation to support campus expansion and prospective student conversion

  • Hire and onboard outreach coordinators, instructors, facilitators, and volunteers

  • Support and guide instructors in developing curriculum and outreach coordinators in scheduling informational sessions and implementing outreach events, and tabling

  • Manage outreach budget for events, staff professional development, and honorariums and additional gratitude to volunteer instructors

  • Manage student registration and application process for Ada Build Live outreach program

  • Lead outreach coordinators in developing and scheduling programs for target demographics

  • Supervise instructors and outreach coordinators. Manage staff capacity, provide feedback and guidance, and conduct performance evaluations and 1:1 meetings.

Community Partnerships & Relationship Building (15%)

  • Network with community partners in higher education, community colleges, and cultural and non-profit organizations to build relationships and partnerships to increase awareness of Ada’s coding and software development program as a career pathway for underrepresented communities

  • Manage outreach team communications, community feedback, and prospective student forums to support student conversion (i.e., prospective student Slack workspace, Ada Build Live volunteer slack workspace, and outreach team email and communications with external stakeholders).

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience as a program manager, operations, or administrative lead in related non-profit, educational, or customer service field

  • 2+ years of experience managing direct reports

  • Excellent public speaking skills and presenting information to diverse groups

  • Strong written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service to stakeholders

  • Strong time-management skills; ability to prioritize projects and work through interruptions

  • Ability to create and maintain positive relationships across multiple departments and teams

  • Demonstrated embodiment of Ada’s values in a professional environment
