About us

Ada Developers Academy is a non-profit, tuition-free coding school for women and gender expansive adults. We focus on serving Black, Latine, Indigenous, and Pacific Islander communities, low-income people, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our program consists of two highly immersive parts: six months of focused instruction, and five months of internship at partner companies, where students refine their skills working on real-world code.

About this position

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our organization during a period of exciting growth. As a member of our Finance team, you will be a key participant in month-end close, financial reporting, processing multi-state payroll, local tax compliance, and grant support. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position with an annual salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 (DOE) and excellent benefits.

This will be a hybrid position located in Seattle, WA, combining an in-office and remote work schedule.

Core responsibilities

  • Conduct month-end close process, prepare supporting schedules

  • Contribute to financial reporting, provide variance analysis

  • Maintain chart of accounts, general ledger, review entries, ensure GAAP compliance

  • Process bi-weekly multi-state payroll, reconcile benefits and payroll tax accounts

  • Maintain grant allocation reporting, support Grant Manager with reports and data for grant applications

  • State tax reports and filing, census reporting, insurance audits

  • Support Finance team and organization with ad-hoc projects as-needed

Essential qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field

  • At least 4 years of experience in accounting or related field, with at least 2 years of experience in an intermediate role

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control concepts

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload, and complete tasks independently with a high degree of accuracy

  • CPA or CMA preferred

  • Prior nonprofit experience a plus

  • Demonstrated embodiment of Ada’s values in a professional environment
