Director of Admissions and Student Affairs

Remote - Seattle, WA

Ada Developers Academy is a non-profit, tuition-free coding school for women and gender diverse adults. We focus on serving low income people, underrepresented minorities, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our program consists of two highly immersive parts: six months of focused instruction, and five months of internship at partner companies, where students refine their skills working on real-world code.

About this position

We are looking for a Director of Admissions and Student Affairs to manage our Admissions Team, and Volunteer Team, as well as support our Student Success Coaches in order to establish and maintain a high-level experience for students in the classroom. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with a salary range of $95,000-$110,000 (DOE) and excellent benefits.

Core responsibilities:

Team Management

  • Manage, guide, coach, and support the Admissions Team and Volunteer Coordinator in their professional growth and development

  • Conduct regular 1:1's  and performance reviews for team members

  • Lead weekly team meetings and stand-ups as needed

  • Participate in the hiring process of new staff

  • Work cross functionally with equity,  internship, and alum to ensure a holistic and high quality experience

Student Support & Volunteer Management

  • Strategically create and oversee the implementation of plans for each admissions cycle - from the beginning to the end - including communication, calendars, and opportunities to receive and implement feedback

  • Oversee and support the implementation of the volunteer program operations from the beginning to end of the cohort, ensuring a positive and smooth experience for all stakeholders, including staff, company partners, and students. This includes volunteers for admissions, mentors, TAs, tutors, mock interviews, and additional classroom support

  • Oversee and support the administration of the student support programs including childcare, laptops, mental health therapy and loans

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to ensure we are providing consistent service and that our students have the support they need to receive a high quality classroom education

  • Build upon existing student support best practices currently at Ada

Essential qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Program Manager in a professional environment (required)

  • 5+ years as a people or team leader (teams of three or more) (required)

  • Knowledge of the tech industry landscape

  • Experience with Admissions is a plus

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Stellar intra- and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated embodiment of Ada’s values in a professional environment
