Grant Manager

Ada Developers Academy is a non-profit, tuition-free coding school for women and gender expansive adults. We focus on serving Black, Latine, Indigenous, and Pacific Islander communities, low income people, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our program consists of two highly immersive parts: six months of focused instruction, and five months of internship at partner companies, where students refine their skills working on real-world code.


About this position

We are looking for a Grants Manager to help execute Ada Developers Academy's grantmaking process. As a member of our Revenue & Strategy team, you will also be responsible for working with staff and Grant Writers to ensure deadlines are met and stakeholders receive accurate and timely information. The position will be responsible for pre- and post-award portfolio management including proposal preparation, budget development, financial review and analysis, effort management, grant/contract management and closeouts. Our portfolio covers business development, operations, and wrap around support services for students. This key position will serve as a liaison between the NW Grants & Consulting team, finance, education and the development departments. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with an annual base salary of $80,000 and excellent benefits.


Core responsibilities

  • Work with the NW Grants & Consulting team to apply for corporate, private, government and family foundation  grants to fund student support services, capacity building, national expansion and other initiatives in Seattle, Atlanta and other cities

  • Serve as the primary liaison to the NW Grants & Consulting team, and as such will be responsible for data requests, the creation of budgets, and solicitation of documents as needed

  • Assisting in maintaining relationships with current funders

  • Reapplication for recurring grants grants, and assembling letters of intent, proposals and reports as needed

  • Track current grant cycles and renewal processes, and assist with prospect research

  • Collaborate with Development Manager, Finance and Education departments and Grant Writers to create grant proposals and funding requests

  • Review guidelines for proposals to make sure all submissions are accurately formatted, include the most current Ada information (outcomes data, demographics, etc.), and include all required information

  • Help maintain a grant proposal calendar and create grant budgets

  • Collaborate with the Finance Team on financial reporting requirements and documenting and tracking grant payments and expenditures

  • Maintaining and updating information about grants in Ada’s databases

  • Lead regular report development, and reporting cycles with funders to ensure compliance with grant requirements, and fostering trusting and deepening relationships with funders

  • Work across Ada departments to monitor grant performance, track and synthesize data, ensure grant reporting requirements are met, and reporting information/data is collected on time

  • Lead communication about grants, requirements, and program funding across departments at Ada


Essential qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 years of grant writing and development experience

  • Demonstrated success writing and managing grants of $10,000 to $1,000,000 from foundation, corporate, and government grant funding sources at local, regional, and national levels

  • Proven ability to work effectively and independently across departments in developing, organizing and managing grant proposals and awards

  • Experience with Salesforce CRM

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional organization and monitoring skills

  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines, managing timelines and deliverables

  • Demonstrated embodiment of Ada’s values in a professional environment
